In the beginning

First Choice Solar was founded in 2010 by Peter Berkers, a visionary entrepreneur with a dream of making solar energy accessible to everyone. He began his solar journey contracting himself for other solar companies, before quickly identifying a gap in the market for a reliable, customer-centric, and quality-focused solar solutions provider. Fuelled by a passion for renewable energy and a commitment to quality and excellence, Peter transformed First Choice Solar into a powerhouse of innovation and reliability.

A path of growth and dedication

Peter stood firm in his commitment to propelling First Choice Solar to the forefront of the industry. He diligently kept pace with current trends and market shifts, ensuring the company remained adaptable to evolving customer needs. As the business grew, Peter invited his trusted colleague and friend, Matt McKinley, to become an equal partner, leading the company alongside him. Their combined expertise in technical skills, renewable energy knowledge, and customer-centric approach provided a sturdy foundation for the next phase of growth.

In his role, Matt champions the highest standards of quality in every installation, leveraging his expertise of over a decade of installation, to ensure that customers receive nothing short of exceptional service every time. His leadership has been instrumental in driving First Choice Solar towards continued success, ensuring that the company remains the trusted leader in the solar energy landscape in Fraser Coast, Gold Coast, and The Sunshine Coast for years to come.

What sets us apart

Since the beginning we veered away from the conventional by not employing salespeople, aligning better with our fundamental operating value of customer empowerment. We recognise that consumers need expert advice and guidance, which our qualified team of electricians and Clean Energy Council-accredited solar installers are best positioned to provide.

We built two flagship First Choice Solar factory/showrooms in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and Caloundra West on the Sunshine Coast to further support customers by providing them with the opportunity to engage with our products and team directly. This hands-on approach ensures that every interaction is knowledgeable and supportive, empowering customers to confidently navigate their solar journey.

We only use the latest products and innovations that have proven performance but firmly believe that the success of a solar system hinges not only on the quality of the products but also on the craftsmanship and ongoing support provided by the installer. We recruit only highly qualified reputable electricians to work alongside us and have rigorous quality control measures in place for every job, no matter the size.
