Introducing The First Choice Foundation

If you’ve been part of the First Choice Solar family for a while, you’ll know that giving back has always been part of who we are.

Over the past 16 years, we've supported local sporting clubs, community organisations, charities and grassroots initiatives across Queensland. We've backed fundraisers, partnered with local groups, and contributed to projects that we hoped would make a meaningful difference.

One of our most memorable initiatives was Row for Life, which raised more than $100,000 for neurodivergent children. We’ve gifted solar and battery systems to families doing it tough and, along the way, supported countless other community initiatives, sponsorships and opportunities to lend a hand wherever we could.

No big fanfare and to be honest, no real structure. Just us doing what we could, when we could, for the community that supports us.

But over time, as the business has grown, something became pretty clear.

We can do more.

Why Formalise It?

Over the years, we've been fortunate enough to build relationships with some incredible people. Customers, suppliers, business owners, sporting clubs, community leaders and everyday Australians who genuinely care about making a difference.

And the more conversations we had, the more we realised something. There are a lot of good people who want to help, the challenge isn't finding people who care, it's bringing everyone together in a way that creates something meaningful, sustainable and capable of making a bigger impact than any one person or business could achieve alone.

That's really where the idea to formalise the Foundation came from.   Not because we wanted to change what we've always done, but because we believed we could create even greater impact.

Introducing the First Choice Foundation

So, the First Choice Foundation really just represents the next chapter of our commitment to community. It allows us to take everything we've learnt over the past 16 years and channel it into initiatives that create opportunities for Australians who may otherwise miss out.

Our mission is simple:

To remove barriers and create opportunities for Australians who need it most.

Because when you spend enough time around people from different walks of life, you start to realise something. More often than not, it's not ability that's missing, it's access.

Access to opportunities. Access to experiences. Access to support. Access to people who believe in you.

Many of us can probably look back and point to a moment, a coach, a mentor, a teacher, a family member, or simply an opportunity that helped shape the direction of our lives.

Sometimes it only takes one person believing in you, or just one opportunity.  And sometimes that person or that opportunity changes everything.

What's Ahead

We're excitedly working on our first major initiative, focused on creating opportunities for children who may not otherwise get the chance to experience the ocean and the joy of surfing.

For many of us living in coastal South East Queensland, a day at the beach feels pretty normal. But the reality is that not every one gets those opportunities.  And while surfing might seem like a simple activity, experiences like these can build confidence, resilience, connection and a sense of possibility that extends far beyond the water itself.

To help bring this vision to life, we're incredibly proud to announce we are working alongside Foundation Ambassadors Joel Parkinson and Bede Durbidge.

Both Joel and Bede have spent their entire lives understanding the impact that sport, community and opportunity can have on young people. More importantly, they share our belief that everyone deserves the chance to challenge themselves, build confidence and discover what they're capable of.

We're also partnering with a number of like-minded businesses and community organisations who have stepped forward to support what we're building, because these kinds of initiatives don't happen alone.  They happen when communities come together.

Looking Beyond One Day

While our first event will focus on creating memorable experiences, our vision extends far beyond a single day.  While one special day absolutely matters, what happens afterwards matters just as much. Our goal is to create initiatives that leave a lasting impact. Programs that build confidence, create connections, and open doors that may otherwise remain closed.

We're still at the beginning of that journey, but we're excited to see what's ahead and the people we'll be fortunate enough to work alongside and make a difference to.   We'll share more as things progress, but for now we simply wanted to properly introduce the Foundation and the purpose behind it. Because sometimes all it takes is one opportunity to change a life.

This Is Only The Beginning
